How to Remove Windows Messenger in XP

open up sysoc.inf in the windows/inf folder scroll down to msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,hide,7

delete hide so it looks like this:

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

and save , unhide the sysoc.inf file and then goto add/remove progs/windows components and delete messenger

How To Speed Up A Slow Computer

first off in the bottom right hand corner of your computer if you see alot of icons start up there when you first start your computer then this is for you if you dont know already how to get rid of em.

Press your Start Button (bottom left) and go to "run"

now type in: msconfig

now you will get a box that pops up and will tell you bunch of stuff dont mess with anything else other than what I tell you otherwise you could do something really bad (possible) go to your "startup" tab on the top right of the screen where it usually is and click it.

Now you will have a closed in box with bunch of filenames n addresses and more boxes with checks in them. Now if your like me you dont want anything startin up when you start you computer up or while your even doing anything cause it slows you down. Now unless your like me right now 1 have 1 thing starting up when my computer starts up and thats my settin for my overclocked vid card. But other than that uncheck every box and then hit apply and ok. Then window you were jus in will now close and ask you if you want to restart or wait till later to restart.

Enable / Disable Firewall

Open Control Panel and double click on Network Connections. In the new box that appears right click on the Connection and click on the Advanced tab. Check or uncheck the box according to your desire.

How to Change XP Boot Screen

If you would like to change your boot up screen follow the directions below.

These instructions assume that you have a place to download the boot screen from the net.

1. Backup (copy) the file %windir%\system32\ntoskrnl.exe (most likely C:\windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe - the boot screen)

2. Download the .zip to your computer

3. Extract ntoskrnl.exe to a directory other than %windir%\system32 (most likely C:\windows\system32)

4. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode (hit F8 before the boot screen) or into true DOS (from a boot disk)

5. Overwrite the file %windir%\system32\ntoskrnl.exe (which should have been backed up) with the extracted exe

6. Reboot your computer as you normally would

Easy IP Check

Use this if you just want to display your IP address and not the extra information

(default gateway / subnet mask)

Simply copy and paste the following into notepad

And save as IP.BAT (save to your windows dir if you want to be able to access it anywhere)

Now when you type IP you will see:

find "IP Address" causes the output of ipconfig to be piped to the find command,

which looks for the line containing "IP Address", find then outputs your IP address,

@pause causes the terminal to wait for user input before continuing.

The @ before each command tells the terminal not to echo the command being typed.)

Fix for slow xDsl internet access

This is also valid for all Windows versions.

Sometimes during browsiing you can notice that it takes time to access any web page,

and then, suddenly, your connection establishes full-speed again.

The reason lays in amount of time it needs for tcp/ip protocol to translate a host name to an IP address.

In order to fix this problem your xDSL modem shoud have an internal IP address specified in TCP/IP properties. For Win98 it would be TCP/IP bounded to NIC.

In most of the cases IP address would be 192.168.1.2; subnet mask : 255.255.255.0.

Tips for writing an essay

1. One is required to write an essay for three hours duration. This length of duration is enough. There is no standard word limit for writing an essay.
2. Remember to divide an essay into three parts – (i) Introduction (ii) Main body and (iii) Conclusion.
3. The choice of topic on which the essay is to be written after careful thought. While selecting a topic, the knowledge base of the topic – i.e how much you know about the subject is of crucial importance. If you have data or statistics at your fingertips to back some statements, all the more better.
4. The introduction is of crucial importance. Remember – well begun is half done. This applies to an essay all the more. One could begin with a saying or a quotation. Quotations make the essay interesting to read.
5. If you cannot mentally arrange the points to be covered in the essay, jot down the points on a rough sheet of paper. Try to expand one point in its entirety in one paragraph and then move on to the next point. Do not keep returning back to one point after you have started another point. It makes the essay repetitive and boring to read. If possible, try to maintain a link between the points by a connecting sentence at the end of the paragraph covering a given point.
6. Keep your sentences short. Longer sentences not only lead to complex sentences, but also point to complexity in thought process. Use minimum number of conjunctions. Finish off a sentence as quickly as possible and start a new sentence.
7. In an essay, try to point out the problem areas and also suggest solutions to solve them.
8. Conclusion is as important as an introduction. It gives an insight into your analyzing powers. Try to give a brief overview in the form of a gist of the essay in the conclusion

How to Increase BROADBAND

this is for broad band connections.

1.make sure your logged on as actually "Administrator". do not log on with any account that just has administrator privileges.

2. start> run>type gpedit.msc

3. expand the "local computer policy" branch

4. expand the "administrative templates" branch

5. expand the "network branch"

6. Highlight the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in left window

7. in right window double click the "limit reservable bandwidth" setting

8. on setting tab check the "enabled" item

9. where it says "Bandwidth limit %" change it to read 0

reboot if you want to but not necessary on some systems your all done. Effect is immediate on some systems. some need re-boot. I have one machine that needs to reboot first, the others didn't. Don't know why this is.

This is more of a "counter what XP does" thing. In other words,

XP seems to want to reserve 20% of the bandwidth for its self.

Even with QoS disabled, even when this item is disabled. So why not use it to your advantage.

To demonstrate the problem with this on stand alone machines start up a big download from a server with an FTP client.

Try to find a server that doesn't max out your bandwidth.

In this case you want a slow to medium speed server to demonstrate this.

Let it run for a couple of minutes to get stable.

The start up another download from the same server with another instance of your FTP client.

You will notice that the available bandwidth is now being fought over and one of the clients download will be very slow or both will slow down when they should both be using the available bandwidth.

(PSP)The story behind this tips

Shortly after the PSP's North American release, several people noticed that there was a very basic browser built into Wipeout Pure, accessible via the main menu of the game. When you click on Downloads in this menu, the game attempts to connect to the Internet and access a page that allows you to download new skins and racetracks for the game.

Several people decided to run a scan while this connection was going on and discovered that Wipeout Pure's browser was attempting to reach out to http://ingame.scea.com/wipeout/index.html. Setting up a little simple DNS redirection taking any requests for http://ingame.scea.com and redirecting them to another server hosting a /wipeout/index.html file was the next logical step. Fill that index.html file with a few of your favorite links, and suddenly the entire Internet is available to you via your PSP.

If you try to load http://ingame.scea.com/wipeout/index.html in your regular web browser on your computer, you will receive a page warning you that you are forbidden to access that page. You could try hacking the user agent identification in your browser to mimic the PSP's browser, but just load it in the PSP if you really want to see it.

GTA: San Andreas SecretsSave two cars in your garage
This works in the same way as the previous games. Normally you can only save one car in your garage, but with this you can save two or more! All you have to do is get your two or however many cars and bring them up to your garage. Drive one of them until the garage door opens, and then drive it half way in and get out of the car. This will keep the door open for you. Next, get into the other car and drive that all the way into the garage. Restricted areas open for you
During Woozie's mission "Amphibian Assault", the wanted level system is disabled. You can now travel everywhere in the game including the restricted areas like the Eastern naval base and all police stations without the cops chasing you. This is time to collect the two oysters in the extremely dangerous naval base without being shot.

How to "Delete administrator Password" without any software

Method 1

Boot up with DOS and delete the sam.exe and sam.log files from Windows\system32\config in your hard drive. Now when you boot up in NT the password on your built-in administrator account which will be blank (i.e No password). This solution works only if your hard drive is FAT kind.

Method 2

Step 1. Put your hard disk of your computer in any other pc .Step 2. Boot that computer and use your hard disk as a secondary hard disk (D'nt boot as primary hard disk ).Step 3. Then open that drive in which the victim’s window(or your window) is installed.Step 4. Go to location windows->system32->configStep 5. And delete SAM.exe and SAM.log
Step 6. Now remove hard disk and put in your computer.
Step 7. And boot your computer :-)

Tips to recover scratched CD's

1. Spread a cloth on a flat surface and place the CD on it.
2. Then, hold the disc with one hand, use the other to wipe the polish into the affected area with a soft cloth.
3. Wait for it to dry and buff using short, brisk strokes along the scratch, not across it.
4. A cloth sold to wipe spectacles or camera lenses will work super m8's.
5. When you can no longersee the scratch,, wash the disc with water and let it dry before playing. Intersting isnt it? Try it right now
I have used toothpaste with good effects before Ive also used car paint cutting compound on deeper scratches. It does leave lots of smaller scratches (as it is a cutting compound after all) but it will remove the worst scratches in most cases.

Many times Windows users face a common problem. The “Folder Options” in “Tools” menu is not visible. Even It can’t be accessed from Control Panel. Also “Registry Editor” is disabled.
Follow the simple steps mentioned in this tutorial and your problem will be solved:

1. If Folder Options is disabled but Registry Editor is still working in your system, then you can enable Folder Options by editing Windows Registry.
Type regedit in RUN dialog box and press Enter.
